Vineet Joshi removed as higher education secretary

Vineet Joshi, a 1992-batch IAS officer, was removed as higher education secretary amid the NEET-UG paper leak controversy.

He has been appointed secretary in the Panchayati Raj ministry, replaced by Naresh Pal Gangwar as higher education secretary.

Joshi previously served as chairman of CBSE, first director-general of the National Testing Agency (NTA), and acting chairman of UGC.

During his tenure as NTA director-general, the agency introduced the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) for undergraduate admissions.

T K Anil Kumar has taken charge as the new school education secretary, while Gangwar, a 1994-batch Rajasthan-cadre IAS officer, faces scrutiny over family subsidies.
