CJP protest: Kin of injured cops seek action against suspects

Family members of Delhi police personnel injured during the Cockroach Janta Party's month-long protest at Jantar Mantar held a meeting on Wednesday, demanding arrests and probe into cases where policemen were attacked with stones, sticks and other objects.

The protest culminated in a Chao Sansad march on July 20 that led to clashes, with Delhi Police reporting over 128 personnel injured.

The Delhi government announced on Thursday that no adverse legal action would be taken against those involved in student protests, except people with criminal antecedents.

A Delhi University student, Kunjal, said her father, a sub-inspector, was pulled into a mob and almost lynched near the stage at Jantar Mantar, requiring multiple stitches on his head.

Seema, wife of an ASI with Delhi Police, said her husband suffered head, back, and limb injuries from attacks with flowerpots, bricks, stones, and shoes during the protest.
