Five-year-old girl killed in leopard attack in Shirur; forest dept launches intensive search

A five-year-old girl was killed by a leopard while sleeping in a cattle shed in Pimpalsuti village, Shirur taluka.

The attack occurred around 2:40 am on July 22; the leopard carried the child into a sugarcane field and partially consumed tissue from her neck and cheek.

The forest department launched an intensive operation including cages, camera traps, drone surveillance, and night patrolling to trace the leopard.

The family was staying in Pimpalsuti for sugarcane harvesting work; police registered an accidental death case under Section 194 of BNSS.
