Supreme Court asks CBSE for details of steps taken to curb digital evaluation flubs

Supreme Court asked CBSE to detail steps taken to curb irregularities in its on-screen marking (OSM) digital evaluation system.

A one-member commission of S Radha Chauhan has been appointed to inquire into OSM issues and suggest remedial measures.

Centre removed CBSE chairperson Rahul Singh and secretary Himanshu Gupta in June 2026 and ordered an inquiry into OSM procurement.

A PIL alleged scanning errors and portal glitches in OSM caused arbitrary evaluation or non-evaluation of answer sheets.

Supreme Court noted frustration caused to students and urged urgent comprehensive action.
