in5points
DRDO conducted maiden test-firing of Kusha M-1 interceptor with 120 km range off Odisha coast.
Three interceptors under Project Kusha (M-1, M-2, M-3) will cover ranges from 120 km to 400 km.
M-2 interceptor with 150 km range and M-3 with 400 km range are scheduled for testing in the next 12 months.
Project Kusha was cleared by Cabinet Committee on Security in May 2022 and gained priority after Operation Sindoor.
Kusha interceptors are long-range surface-to-air missiles designed to bridge the gap between Akash Teer and S-400 systems.
