The Pentagon's official Iran war death toll no longer lists four U.S. troops killed during renewed fighting, moving them to a new category called 'Overseas Operations'.

The Defense Casualty Analysis System removed the four fallen soldiers and dozens of wounded from its Iran war tally last week.

Pentagon press secretary Joel Valdez argued the drop was due to 'anomalies' and 'temporary data disruptions', not an effort to hide the human toll.

President Donald Trump confirmed a total of 18 deaths in the 'Iran Military Conflict', but the Pentagon system now shows 14 dead and 420 wounded.

The four troops were killed in incidents including a July 17 Iranian ballistic missile and drone strike on a base in Jordan and a controlled detonation of an Iranian drone in Iraq.
