July 22 BRICS health ministers’ meet in Chandigarh: Focus on TB, infectious diseases, digital health

India hosts the 16th BRICS health ministers’ meeting in Chandigarh from July 22 to 24, 2026, with 11 member nations participating.

The meeting focuses on nine priority areas including collaborative research on tuberculosis, prevention of mass infectious diseases, digital health, and mental well-being.

The theme of the meeting is 'Building for resilience, innovation, cooperation and sustainability'.

Union health secretary Punya Salila Srivastava emphasized collaboration on communicable and non-communicable diseases, pandemic preparedness, TB research, digital health architecture, affordable medicines, and universal health coverage.

The health ministers’ meeting on July 23 will be chaired by Union health and family welfare minister Jagat Prakash Nadda.
