Indian sailor missing after attack on GFS Galaxy vessel near Oman found dead

Indian sailor Herambh Karmarkar from Pune died after an attack on the MV GFS Galaxy cargo vessel off the coast of Oman.

His body was recovered nearly 60 hours after the attack by Oman's coast guard.

Ten other Indian crew members were rescued from the Cyprus-flagged vessel.

The Indian Consulate in Dubai is coordinating with UAE authorities and the shipping company to support the deceased sailor's family.

India condemned the attack and called for de-escalation of tensions in the region.
