Scott Edwards steps down as Netherlands captain, Bas de Leede to take charge

Scott Edwards stepped down as Netherlands captain after leading the side in 56 ODIs since June 2022.

Bas de Leede, a 26-year-old fast-bowling all-rounder, will take over as captain for the remainder of the CWC League 2.

Under Edwards, the Netherlands won 24 and lost 29 ODIs, including victories over South Africa and Bangladesh at the 2023 ODI World Cup.

Edwards also captained the Netherlands in 50 T20Is, with notable wins over Zimbabwe and South Africa at the 2022 T20 World Cup.

The Netherlands are currently second on the CWC League 2 table, behind the USA.
