Plea against internet shutdown around Jantar Mantar withdrawn from Delhi HC

Software Freedom Law Centre, India withdrew its PIL from the Delhi High Court against suspension of mobile internet services in central Delhi.

The petition challenged orders by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs on July 17, 20, 22, and 23, 2026 to shut down mobile internet around Jantar Mantar.

Internet services were restored after the Cockroach Janta Party ended its protest following the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

The PIL argued the suspension was illegal and unconstitutional, violating Articles 19 and 21, and lacked justification or consideration of less restrictive alternatives.
