India's MEA rejected Pakistan's 'baseless' claim that India caused flooding by releasing river waters.

Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said the Chenab river flow increase was due to intense monsoon rainfall over Jammu and catchment areas from July 20-23.

Pakistan's own flood forecasting division in Lahore issued an advisory on July 22 attributing high flood levels in the Chenab to heavy rainfall over the upper catchment area.
