Shri Ramlila Mahasangh has sent a letter to Ramayana makers demanding a special preview screening before its theatrical release this Diwali, both in India and overseas.
The letter was written by Arjun Kumar, President of Shri Ramlila Mahasangh, to director Nitesh Tiwari and the production company.
The demand references the controversy over Adipurush (2023), which included objections to the depiction of Lanka in black instead of gold and portrayal of Ravana and his army.
The Mahasangh warns that if the request is not complied with, they and various Hindu organizations will stage protests outside cinema halls in Delhi and other states.
Ramayana: Part 1, starring Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, and Yash as Ravana, is scheduled for a Diwali 2026 release.
