Nearly 81 years after Hiroshima, scientists discover a hidden metal alloy created by the atomic bomb blast
Researchers identified a previously unknown metallic alloy in microscopic particles called 'hiroshimaites' from Hiroshima Bay sand.
The alloy contains iron, chromium, nickel, manganese, molybdenum, silicon, and aluminum, crystallized in an ordered AlAu₄-type structure.
It formed during the extreme heat and rapid cooling of the atomic bomb blast on August 6, 1945.
