NATO tests giant grass to restore Ukraine's war-damaged soil; may break down explosive residue

NATO-backed scientists from Jan Evangelista Purkyne University are testing giant Miscanthus grass near Bucha to clean Ukraine's war-damaged soil.

The grass is planted on land polluted by oil, explosives, and heavy vehicle damage from over four years of conflict.

Miscanthus aims to remove harmful pollutants and improve soil health, potentially restoring the land for future farming.

The project also produces biomass from the grass for renewable energy use.
