NITI index: Gujarat, Maharashtra lead in wooing investors
NITI Aayog released its first 'Investment Friendliness Index' covering all 36 states and Union Territories.
Gujarat, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Goa and Odisha were the top performing states, scoring above 50 on a 1-100 scale.
Gujarat scored 56.6 due to efficient port operations, favourable business climate and competitive power sector.
Maharashtra scored 53.7 due to attracting significant private equity/venture capital investments and strong economic indicators.
The index was based on eight pillars over 90 indicators and responses from 1,850 investors.
