Mira Rajput, co-founder of skincare brand Akind, called the glass skin trend 'very unrealistic' in an August 1 Instagram video.
She said healthy skin naturally has pores and texture, and that chasing poreless skin sets unrealistic expectations, especially in India's climate.
Rajput noted that the glass effect is often due to lighting and that skin can only absorb so many products, so layering multiple products does not ensure healthier skin.
She advised focusing on building balanced, resilient skin by improving hydration and barrier regulation with a moisturizer, rather than seeking a reflective finish 24x7.
