Bihar assembly clears 13 bills; amendments suggested by RJD, AIMIM MLAs rejected

Bihar Assembly passed 13 bills including the Bihar Prisons and Correctional Services Bill, 2026; Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee Artificial Intelligence and Computer Science University Bill, 2026; and Bihar Ease of Doing Business Bill, 2026.

Amendments moved by RJD MLA Rahul Sharma and AIMIM legislator Akhtarul Iman were rejected by the House.

Under the Bihar Private Universities (Amendment) Bill, 2026, sponsoring bodies can get provisional approval for one academic session if they furnish assurances about buildings and infrastructure.

Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary said the state aims to reduce the need for Bihar students to leave for higher education, noting that lakhs study outside via student credit cards.
