BMC Approves AI, Drone, Satellite Tech To Detect Illegal Constructions And Encroachments Across Mumbai

BMC General Body approved a proposal to use AI, drone surveys, satellite imagery, GIS, remote sensing, and real-time monitoring to detect illegal constructions and encroachments.

The decision includes launching a GPS-enabled mobile app and an online citizen complaint portal for geo-tagged complaints.

Municipal Administration must develop an AI-based Illegal Construction Detection System and conduct regular drone and satellite monitoring.

The move aims to strengthen early detection and faster enforcement against unauthorized developments in Mumbai.
