Driver dozes off; 54-year-old passenger killed as pickup truck rams trailer in Panvel

A 54-year-old passenger, Ashok Dattatraya Maskar, was killed when a pickup truck rammed a trailer on Palaspe-JNPT Road in Panvel.

The driver, Sandesh Sarjerao Kesare, allegedly dozed off while driving at high speed in heavy rain, causing the collision.

Maskar died on the spot from fatal injuries; Kesare sustained serious injuries.

An FIR was registered against Kesare under sections of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Motor Vehicles Act for causing death by negligence and rash driving.
