Power cable fire triggers panic in Sarafa Bazaar, Ludhiana

Power cables caught fire in Sarafa Bazaar, Ludhiana on Saturday afternoon, panicking shopkeepers.

Traders had to douse the flames themselves after PSPCL staff could not reach due to an ongoing employee strike.

Traders shut down the feeder at a nearby grid substation and used sand to extinguish the fire, averting a major mishap.

Prince Babbar, president of Swarnkar Sangh, said the problem had been reported to PSPCL days earlier.

Additional superintending engineer Gurpreet Singh said repairs were delayed due to the employees' agitation.
