Bareilly teen held for morning walker’s murder; police probe mental health claim

Mohammad Arman, 19, was arrested for murdering 65-year-old grocery trader Siyaram Srivastava during his morning walk on Bibiyapur Road in Bareilly on July 24, 2026.

Arman allegedly told police he heard 'voices of a jinn' directing him to kill people; police are investigating a possible mental disorder.

Arman's father was arrested for attempting to conceal evidence related to the murder.

CCTV footage showed a white Omni van registered to Arman's father near the crime scene; Arman allegedly hit the victim with the van, then attacked him with broken glass and a knife.

Police recovered ₹580 of the stolen ₹1,200, the murder weapon, blood-stained clothes, the victim's Aadhaar card and mobile phone, and the Omni van.
