Around 40 students from a government primary school in Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh, refused to attend school to protest the transfer of teacher Badrilal Rathore.
Students and parents held placards and demanded revocation of Rathore's transfer, stating they will not return to school until he is reinstated.
Additional District Magistrate Brajendra Rawat spoke with the protestors; officials assured the issue would be examined.
Villagers said Rathore developed facilities at his own expense and strengthened students' grasp of mathematics and English.
Rathore was transferred on June 30 to Semliya village in Piploda; parents threatened an indefinite protest if the transfer is not revoked within eight days.
