Dr Shome said visible thinning indicates follicle deterioration that began months or years earlier, making reactive treatment too late.

His approach uses a patent-pending 12-item hair ageing index (HAI) to generate a hair biology score for measurable assessment.

The protocol classifies patients into four biological profiles: follicular signalling decline, excessive shedding, structural damage, and refractory changes.

Dr Shome recommends assessing genetics, shedding patterns, hair quality, and internal factors like hormones and nutrition for early detection.
