Bombay HC Seeks Maharashtra Govts Stand On PM Modis Appeal For Eco-Friendly Clay Ganesh Idols

Bombay High Court asked Maharashtra government for its stand on PM Narendra Modi's appeal for eco-friendly clay Ganesh idols.

The court was hearing petitions on enforcement of CPCB 2020 revised guidelines banning immersion of Plaster of Paris idols in natural water bodies.

The CPCB told the court its guidelines are only advisory, not mandatory, shifting its earlier position upheld by courts.

The bench questioned why CPCB altered its stance in 2025, reportedly after a Maharashtra government request and committee recommendation.
