Parallel power distribution bid: Private power distribution could impose burden on farmers, households, says power engineers’ body

AIPEF and other organisations held a rally at Nuh opposing a parallel distribution licence in Gurugram and Nuh revenue districts.

A memorandum was submitted to the Haryana Electricity Regulatory Commission (HERC) demanding rejection of the licence petition and dissolution of the expert committee.

AIPEF chairman Shailendra Dubey said permitting private companies to use the public distribution network for high-paying consumers would financially cripple state utilities and burden farmers, domestic consumers, and small businesses.

Dubey stated that the Electricity Act does not permit discrimination among consumers and creating multiple licensees on the same network would violate universal and equitable electricity supply principles.

AIPEF media advisor VK Gupta urged HERC to reject the parallel distribution licence petition in the interest of transparency, fairness, and larger public interest.
