Western Railway (WR) is spending ₹10 crore to seal 27 trespassing hotspots between Churchgate and Virar.
Hotspots are near Vasai, Dahisar, Borivali, Kandivali, Jogeshwari, Andheri, Mahim, Dadar, Lower Parel, and Mumbai Central stations.
The hotspots are breaks in boundary walls created by commuters to access tracks; 50 of 77 gaps were already sealed.
Borivali, Vasai and Nalasopara stations are labelled ‘death zones’ due to high fatalities.
Between January and May 2026, 706 people died on Mumbai’s suburban railway network, mostly from trespassing.
