Sun Pharma withdraws 11 eye medicines
Sun Pharma withdrew 11 ophthalmic products including Depopred 2ml, Brinolar (BKC Free), Brinzotim Eye Drops 5ml (BKC Free), Lotepred 5ml, Lotepred 1% Eye Drops 5ml, Lotepred LS 0.2% Eye Drops 5ml, Lotepred T, Nepalact OD Eye Drops 3ml, Nepalact-Z, Toba-F, and Nepalact E/D 5ml.
The withdrawal was initiated after Sun Pharma's distribution arm issued a July 17 communication directing retailers to stop further supply and withdraw existing stocks from the trade channel.
These medicines are used to treat glaucoma, post-operative inflammation, allergic eye diseases, and bacterial eye infections.
A Sun Pharma spokesperson said the withdrawal is a 'proactive voluntary withdrawal' as a 'matter of abundant precaution,' but did not specify the reason or clarify if it was linked to a manufacturing or quality issue.
