Mini leagues, big dreams: MCD plans citywide football and cricket leagues for young talent

Municipal Corporation of Delhi plans to launch citywide football and cricket leagues for children in Under-9 and Under-11 age groups.

The leagues will feature 84 teams per sport, with each of MCD's 12 zones fielding seven teams, including students from MCD schools and private teams.

Participation for MCD schools, teams, and students will be free, while private teams will pay registration fees.

Revenue from registrations and CSR partnerships will fund operations, with any surplus invested in upgrading sports infrastructure in MCD schools.

The leagues will follow a four-tier structure (Diamond, Gold, Silver, etc.) and are tentatively scheduled to begin in October.
