PMK urges TN govt to settle long-pending police grievances

PMK president Dr Anbumani Ramadoss urged the Tamil Nadu government to resolve decades-old police grievances regarding delayed promotions and pay disparities.

He claimed the government was pursuing court cases instead of taking policy decisions, leaving thousands of police personnel without promotions.

The dispute stems from 1994-95 when 1,198 Sub-Inspectors were selected but only 98 were not given appointment orders until May 22, 2000, without backdated seniority.

Anbumani said the delay was due to government mistakes, not officers' faults, and affected two generations of officers.

He also alleged that police personnel under the 20% departmental quota for SI posts are denied the Tamil medium reservation provided to other candidates.
