Oscar-winning animator Glen Keane rescued by helicopter

Oscar-winning animator Glen Keane, known for 'The Little Mermaid,' 'Beauty and the Beast,' and 'Aladdin,' was rescued by helicopter while hiking Mummy Mountain in Arizona.

Keane, 72, felt dizzy and could not walk without support during an extreme heatwave; Phoenix firefighters responded after 8 a.m. on July 29, 2026.

Keane was lifted via helicopter to a landing zone and declined hospital transport, expressing gratitude for the crew's brave efforts.

Phoenix Fire Captain Todd Keller advised hikers to avoid trails during severe heat, noting it was 93 degrees at seven in the morning.
