Delhi govt issues show-cause notice to private school over alleged violations

The Delhi government's Directorate of Education (DoE) issued a show-cause notice to Venkateshwar Global School in Rohini over alleged financial irregularities, safety lapses, and statutory violations.

A joint inspection by education, revenue, and other Delhi government departments found the school's response evasive and unsatisfactory, prompting the notice to consider taking over the management.

Fire safety deficiencies include no valid fire safety certificate, expired extinguishers, unattended hazardous chemicals in the chemistry lab, and expired first-aid supplies.

The school allegedly converted basement parking into 18 academic rooms and used the space as an unauthorized CBSE examination centre.

Financial irregularities include reported losses exceeding ₹15.6 crore, high-value payments to unverified firms, using development funds for mobile phones worth ₹22.23 lakh, and repaying unsecured loans of ₹3.25 crore without verification.
