Delhiwale: This way to Gadhe Walon ka Chowk

in5points
Gadhe Walon ka Chowk is a crossroads in Old Delhi where lanes run toward Chitli Qabar, Turkman Gate, Chawri Bazar, and Teliyon ka Phatak.
The chowk is named after the donkeys and mules (gadhe) that gathered under a banyan tree to transport building materials in narrow lanes.
Authorities moved the animals to a ground beyond the old city walls decades ago, and their numbers have since fallen.
A concrete water trough at the corner of the chowk survives; donkeys and mules sometimes drink from it.
A marble grave beneath the banyan tree is a meeting spot for neighborhood elders.
