Mild tremors reported over past two days in some Nashik talukas including Surgana, Kalwan, Dindori, and Peth.
No loss of life or major property damage has occurred, though cracks developed in walls of a government ashramshala at Sarad.
Tremor magnitude was around 3.6, as recorded by Maharashtra Engineering & Research Institute.
Nashik Collector Ayush Prasad said fault lines in western Nashik and heavy rain percolation may have caused the tremors, and that this is an earthquake swarm that could last days or weeks.
Citizens advised to follow instructions from authorized agencies.
