13th Convocation of DSMNRU: Spl status for Lko varsity demanded at function

Rajya Sabha MP C Sadanandan Master demanded special status for Dr. Shakuntala Misra National Rehabilitation University (DSMNRU) at its 13th convocation.

Master said special status would enable further expansion in teaching, research, innovation, rehabilitation services, and technological development for disabled persons.

Minister Narendra Kashyap noted Uttar Pradesh is the only state with two special universities for disabled persons: DSMNRU and Jagadguru Rambhadracharya Divyangan University.

The university has initiatives like 'Sugandh Path' with fragrant plants to aid visually impaired navigation and distribution of AI-based 'Smart Vision Glasses'.

At the convocation, 1,921 students received degrees, 130 students got 156 medals, and Akash Patel and Pooja (100% visually impaired) each received Chancellor's Gold Medals.
