Lucknow Municipal Corporation draws up ₹350-cr project to overhaul city’s drainage infra

Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) has prepared a nearly ₹350-crore urban flood management project to overhaul the city's drainage infrastructure.

The project includes construction of new pumping stations, automation of existing ones, and replacement of decades-old pumping stations from the 1970s and 1980s.

A key component is restoration of 14 ponds through desilting, deepening, and rejuvenation to increase rainwater storage capacity.

Chronic waterlogging hotspots like the Taj Underpass will receive new drainage systems to improve stormwater flow.

Funding will come from the state government (₹150 crore) and central government (₹200 crore), with the proposal awaiting approval.
