Sean Astin sold house due to 'LOTR' salary

Sean Astin sold his house after being paid approximately USD 250,000 for three The Lord of the Rings films.

The Lord of the Rings trilogy grossed approximately USD 2.9 billion worldwide between 2001 and 2003.

Astin negotiated a small amount for his role as Samwise Gamgee and had no opportunity to renegotiate because all three films were shot simultaneously.

Co-star Elijah Wood also noted the lack of lucrative renegotiation due to filming all three movies at once.

Orlando Bloom received USD 175,000 for all three films, as told on The Howard Stern Show.
