Rupee near record low as oil spike, weak inflows and dollar demand pile pressure on currency

The rupee touched a record low of 96.83 per US dollar on May 20.

The currency was trading around 96.30 on Friday, just 0.55 percent away from its all-time low.

Pressure on the rupee comes from a spike in oil prices, weak inflows, and dollar demand.
