Chandigarh grants CAS promotion benefits to government-aided college teachers from April 2022

Director higher education Palika Arora passed orders granting CAS promotion benefits to teachers of seven government-aided colleges in Chandigarh, effective April 1, 2022.

The decision follows recommendations of a high-powered committee constituted by the UT administration.

Around 550-600 teachers in these colleges will receive time-bound promotional benefits under UGC 2018 regulations.

Teachers from DAV College, MCM-DAV, Goswami Ganesh Dutta Sanatan Dharma College, Sri Guru Gobind Singh College, Guru Gobind Singh College for Women, and Dev Samaj colleges are excluded for promotions eligible between July 18, 2018 and March 31, 2022.

Affected teachers have appealed to the Prime Minister's office, Ministry of Education, and UT administrator Gulab Chand Kataria to rectify the anomaly.
