Manipur: Kuki-Zo launch counter-economic blockade, ask govt to ensure essentials

Kuki-Zo groups launched an indefinite counter-economic blockade on a highway connecting Manipur with Nagaland.

The blockade will continue until the government ensures free movement of essential commodities to Kuki-Zo areas.

Kuki Civil Society Organisation Working Committee said Kuki-Zo people have endured obstruction of essential commodities while the government watched.

The counter-blockade follows an economic blockade by Naga groups against Kuki-Zos after the killing of six Naga hostages.

All government and private institutions within 14 Kuki-Zo villages shall remain closed until further notice.
