Thane MACT Awards ₹22.62 Lakh Compensation To Gym Trainer Injured In 2020 MSRTC Bus Accident

Thane MACT directed MSRTC to pay ₹22.62 lakh plus 9% annual interest to gym trainer Nalini Kamthe, who suffered permanent disability in a 2020 accident.
The accident occurred on October 19, 2020, when an MSRTC bus allegedly hit Kamthe's Activa from behind at high speed near Hari Om Nagar police outpost in Thane.
The tribunal held the bus driver solely responsible for rash and negligent driving, noting an FIR was filed and not challenged by MSRTC or the deceased driver.
Kamthe, who earned ₹62,000 annually as a gym trainer and yoga instructor, claimed over ₹10 lakh in medical expenses and suffered permanent disablement reducing her earning capacity.
MSRTC's defence that a four-wheeler caused sudden braking in rain was rejected as the bus conductor was issuing tickets and not observing the road at the time.
