Tamil Nadu adds 150 MBBS seats in govt medical colleges, 5,200 seats available across 36 institutions: Health Minister

Tamil Nadu added 150 MBBS seats in government medical colleges for 2026-27 after approval from the National Medical Commission.

The state earlier secured 50 seats; the increase to 150 followed addressing infrastructure deficiencies pointed out by NMC inspection teams.

Total MBBS seats available across 36 government medical colleges in Tamil Nadu now stand at 5,200.
