CBI books ex-defence ministry official, wife in ₹3.05 crore DA case

The CBI filed a disproportionate assets case against Lieutenant Colonel D Sharma and his wife Colonel K Bali.

The couple allegedly amassed assets worth ₹3.05 crore, 320% more than their known income from July 1, 2024, to December 19, 2025.

Sharma served as deputy planning officer in the Department of Defence Production and Supplies, Defence Ministry.

The case stems from a bribery probe where CBI recovered ₹3 lakh in illegal gratification and ₹2.23 crore in cash from Sharma's residence.

The CBI alleges the excess assets constitute offences under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
