Kengeri-Hejjala railway under bridge to open today ending 7-month commuter ordeal in West Bengaluru

The Kengeri-Hejjala railway under bridge (RUB) opens on July 25, 2026, ending a seven-month closure of the level crossing between Kengeri and Hejjala stations.

Union Minister of State for Railways V Somanna will inaugurate the RUB, restoring the road link between Ramohalli-Dodda Alada Mara Road and Bengaluru-Mysuru highway.

South Western Railway completed the underbridge in less than seven months, ahead of the initial one-year schedule.

The closure had forced residents of Ramohalli, Kumbalgodu, Bheemanakuppe, and Big Banyan Tree areas to travel 7-10 km detours, extending a 10-minute commute to nearly an hour.

Over 500 industries in and around Kumbalgodu will benefit, as heavy trucks and commercial vehicles had damaged village roads and infrastructure during the diversion.
