CPWD deploys 3D printing to fast-track defence construction in border areas

CPWD built a forward duty point (watch tower) for the armed forces in Jammu using 3D printing construction technology in 45 days.

Conventional construction of such structures in border areas typically takes more than a year due to difficult terrain and logistics.

D printing uses a computer-controlled machine to lay down concrete layer by layer, enabling faster, more accurate, and less wasteful construction.

The project included a ground-plus-one-storeyed building with end-to-end delivery, including design, procurement, construction, and commissioning of essential services.
