Who is Daniel Adongo? ICE deports ex-NFL player with criminal record after visa overstay

Daniel Ogama Adongo, 37, a former NFL player from Kenya, was deported by ICE after overstaying his visa in 2016.

Adongo played as a linebacker for the Indianapolis Colts from 2013 to 2015.

He had a criminal record including a 2020 conviction for criminal mischief with damage, resulting in a one-year jail sentence, and arrests for felony intimidation, battery, and disorderly conduct.

Under the Laken Riley Act, signed by President Donald Trump, individuals in the country illegally must be detained without bond if convicted of certain crimes.

ICE Chicago Assistant Field Office Director Douglas Thompson stated Adongo was a threat to the community, and his removal makes the community safer.
