Katie named in Nolan Wells investigation
Nolan Wells, a Mississippi teen, was found dead on July 6, 2026, after going missing on July 4 during a trip to Horn Island.
A mystery girl named Katie emerged in the investigation; Wells' parents heard two versions of his final hours, one involving him staying on the island with Katie.
Wells' mother Christine Wonsley said friends initially reported that Wells wanted to stay with Katie and that Katie was also missing, but a Facebook post later confirmed Katie was safe.
The United Cajun Navy assisted in the search, and incident commander Josh Gill stated Wells was last seen with a girl.
Attorney Ben Crump has been hired in connection with the case.
