BMC Restores Jogeshwari Trauma Hospital CT Scanner Using Spare Part From Sion Unit

BMC restored the CT scanner at Hindu Hriday Samrat Balasaheb Thackeray Trauma Hospital in Jogeshwari using a spare part from a scrapped machine at Sion Hospital.

The scanner had been non-functional for nearly four months due to a failed component whose replacement was delayed by imports.

The hospital performs 25-30 CT scans daily; during the outage, patients were referred to other hospitals or had to use costlier MRI scans (Rs 2,500 vs Rs 1,200 for CT).

Dr. Pramod Ingale, Dean of Sion Hospital, confirmed the spare part transfer; Sion is procuring a new CT scanner under a PPP model.

The restoration is expected to reduce referrals and improve timely diagnosis for trauma patients, especially during the monsoon season.
