Chandigarh: ₹5L for families of 4 boys dead in Haridwar tragedy

Punjab governor and UT administrator Gulab Chand Kataria announced ₹5 lakh financial assistance for each of the four families whose minor sons died in the Ganga river during the Kanwar Yatra in Haridwar on July 31.

The assistance is provided from the Governor's Discretionary Fund and intended to provide immediate relief to the affected families.

Kataria visited the bereaved families in the evening and conveyed sympathies, assuring that the Chandigarh administration stood firmly with them.

The deceased boys belonged to economically weak families, with some living in extremely difficult financial circumstances.
