Ishqnama movie review

Arvvindr S. Khaira directs 'Ishqnama', a cross-border romance set in early 1980s Punjab between a Sikh poet (Nimma) and a Muslim woman (Naseema).

Jayy Randhawa delivers a restrained, emotionally layered performance as Nimma, while Shehnaaz Gill portrays Naseema with mature subtlety.

The screenplay by Dheeraj Rattan focuses on quiet moments of separation, hope, and sacrifice rather than manufactured drama.

The film uses the lush Punjab landscapes on both sides of the border as a metaphor for love transcending man-made divisions.
