Not aware of any quid pro quo offer: Adani

Gautam Adani submitted a sworn affidavit in a US court on Wednesday, stating he was not aware of any quid pro quo offer related to the US Department of Justice dropping an indictment against him.

The affidavit was filed in response to a July 8 order by the US District Court for the Eastern District of New York.

Adani acknowledged his November 2024 public post about the Adani Group's plans to invest $10 billion and create 15,000 jobs in the US, but said he was unaware of the indictment at the time.

Adani stated his legal counsel suggested the investment might be part of a resolution of legal charges, but the DOJ made clear that investment promises would not influence their decision.

The DOJ announced in June it would decline further legal action against Adani and his associates, following a 2024 indictment alleging bribery of Indian officials for solar power contracts and securities fraud.
